God has given Grace Church the biblical vision of reaching people across the lines of race and class to gather for worship, and over the years He has blessed our church by bringing into it many people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. One of the easiest and most important ways that we can celebrate our diverse unity is by sharing meals together.
In many cultures, sharing meals together signifies the highest form of friendship,
comradery, and love. Those who serve and those who are being served share a bond; there is no distinction of race or class for all share the same meal. Sharing meals is also sharing culture, like how Koreans eat rice soup at the beginning of every new year. We can learn much about each other by learning about the diverse foods that we eat. These are the deeper meanings behind why we have our fellowship lunch every week. It is not simply another ministry to do because we like food (although many of us do!). It is an opportunity for us to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only” by actually living out the multi-ethnic gospel vision of reconciliation.
So, join the fellowship every Sunday at 12:20 PM in the APR and use this opportunity to share a meal with someone, hear their testimony, learn their culture, and extend your friendship.
We also need your help in sustaining this vital ministry every week! Over the last year, hundreds of people were blessed by our Sunday lunch ministry each week and many have expressed how crucial this ministry is in helping the church realize God’s vision. However, without volunteers, it is nearly impossible to continue this ministry week by week.
