Description

Sermon by Kenny Foster, Senior Pastor, from Isaiah 57:15-21 & Ephesians 2:11-22.
This is the third sermon in our series on God’s vision of the Church, a vision we at Grace are seeking to live. We have heard what God’s vision of the Church is, the preferable future where heaven and earth, and all therein, are reconciled to the Father through Jesus Christ. Last week we heard why this vision of the Church, it is so that all nations, all of creation, in heaven and earth, might be gathered to worship God.  This third message will focus on how God’s vision of the Church is accomplished. Both our Old Testament reading and our New Testament reading proclaims that it is God who accomplishes this unity and diversity through the power of the Cross. Or, as Paul would write, “..that he [Jesus] might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.” Christ’s death on the cross provides the power for making a diverse group of ethnicities one body, whereby God comes makes them into his dwelling place by the power of the Spirit.
