The Reopening Committee has an update concerning the most recent change from the Governor’s office. After 14 months of being under a state of emergency, this past Tuesday, Governor John Carney lifted the state of emergency. All related orders that were included in the state of emergency are, in the governor’s words, “hereby terminated.”
Practically speaking, what this means is:
- Social distancing is no longer required.
- If you are sick, please stay at home.
- Practice good hygiene as you would during cold and flu season.
- Cleaning protocols that are in place will remain. (Cleaning is never a bad thing!)
God has been good to us during these last 14 months. By his grace we have also sought to stay together and take care of each other during this pandemic. Martin Luther writing to the saints during the black plague, reminded them that it is alright to “avoid destruction and disaster whenever we can as long as we do so without detracting from our love and duty toward our neighbor.” That is a good principle then and now. Hence the power of this truth Jesus expressed, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matt. 25:40) May the Lord continue to enable us to serve him as we serve one another.
Your fellow servant,
Pastor Kenny Foster
